I've heard Vitamin A can be hard on the liver. Should I be concerned?

This is a fair question and worth addressing directly. Vitamin A toxicity — called hypervitaminosis A — is a real condition, but it's associated with chronic, significantly excessive intake, typically from megadose supplementation (think 10,000–25,000 IU daily for extended periods) or in rare cases, extreme dietary patterns. At 1,515 mcg per day, DAKE is well below the levels linked to liver stress in the research literature. For most healthy adults, the liver handles preformed Vitamin A efficiently as long as intake stays within reasonable range. If you have pre-existing liver conditions, are pregnant, or are taking medications that affect liver metabolism, that's a conversation to have with your doctor before starting. For everyone else, bloodwork is the smart check.

The tolerable upper intake level (UL) for preformed Vitamin A in adults is 3,000 mcg RAE per day, established by the National Institutes of Health. DAKE delivers 1,515 mcg, right at about half that ceiling, which gives meaningful therapeutic dosing room while staying well within the established safety range for daily use. That said, Vitamin A is fat-soluble, meaning it accumulates in body tissue rather than being flushed out daily like water-soluble vitamins. If your diet is already high in liver, full-fat dairy, eggs, or other retinol-rich foods, that's worth factoring in. This is exactly why we recommend getting baseline bloodwork done and rechecking after 90 days of use. There's no universal "right" dose, your biology and diet determine what you actually need.

With so many supplements out there, why does DAKE even include Vitamin A?

Vitamin A doesn't get the cultural moment that Vitamin D or magnesium gets right now, but it's quietly one of the most commonly suboptimal fat-soluble nutrients in modern diets, and its absence creates a real ceiling on what the other fat-soluble vitamins can do. Here's the practical reality: the foods that actually deliver preformed Vitamin A (liver, cod liver oil, full-fat dairy, egg yolks) have been systematically reduced in most people's diets over the last few decades. Low-fat dietary guidance, reduced organ meat consumption, and the rise of plant-forward eating all contribute. Beta-carotene from vegetables gets counted on nutrition labels as Vitamin A equivalent, but the body has to convert it into usable Vitamin A, a process that is inefficient for many people and affected by genetics, gut health, and thyroid status. Retinyl palmitate is preformed Vitamin A, meaning your body absorbs and uses it directly without that conversion step, making it significantly more bioavailable. The deeper reason Vitamin A belongs in DAKE is the way fat-soluble vitamins work together. Vitamins A, D, and K are metabolically interdependent. They share transport proteins, compete for some of the same receptors, and regulate each other's activity. High-dose Vitamin D supplementation, which is extremely common in the health optimization world, can actually accelerate Vitamin A depletion over time. Running D without A, or K without A, is like tuning one part of an engine while ignoring what it connects to. DAKE includes Vitamin A (as retinyl palmitate, the form your body uses directly), Vitamin D, Vitamin K1, and Vitamin K2 as MK-4, all together in one capsule dosed intentionally so the full fat-soluble stack is covered and balanced. Including Vitamin A isn't a checkbox. It's the difference between a fat-soluble supplement that's complete and one that's quietly working against itself.

Why does DAKE use Vitamin D3 instead of D2?

There are two forms of supplemental Vitamin D, D2 (ergocalciferol, derived from plants) and D3 (cholecalciferol, derived from animal sources or lichen). D3 is the form your body naturally produces when skin is exposed to UVB sunlight, and research consistently shows it raises and sustains blood levels of 25(OH)D (the marker your doctor tests) more effectively than D2. D2 converts to a slightly different metabolite, is less potent at equivalent doses, and clears the body faster.For a supplement built around actually moving your levels, D3 is the only form worth using.

5,000 IU of Vitamin D feels like a lot. Is that dose safe for daily use?

The official RDA for Vitamin D sits at 600–800 IU, which reflects the minimum needed to prevent deficiency-related disease, not an optimal level for a health-conscious adult. The tolerable upper intake level set by the NIH is 4,000 IU, but that figure is widely considered conservative by researchers and clinicians working in this space. Large-scale studies and clinical practice have consistently shown 5,000 IU daily to be safe and well-tolerated in healthy adults, with toxicity only appearing at sustained intakes far above that range. That said, Vitamin D is fat-soluble and accumulates in tissue, so individual response varies based on starting levels, body composition, sun exposure, and diet. This is exactly why we recommend baseline bloodwork before starting and a recheck at 90 days. A serum 25(OH)D test tells you where you actually are and whether 5,000 IU is filling a gap or pushing you higher than needed.

I spend time outside regularly. Do I still need supplemental Vitamin D?

Possibly, but sun exposure is a far less reliable Vitamin D source than most people assume. UVB rays, which trigger Vitamin D synthesis in the skin, are only present at sufficient angles for synthesis during certain hours of the day and certain times of year depending on your latitude. Sunscreen, clothing, glass, air pollution, and skin tone all reduce synthesis further. And even in ideal conditions, the body caps natural production at a point you can't synthesize your way to optimal levels the way many people believe. The only way to know whether your sun exposure is translating into adequate Vitamin D status is to test. Bloodwork removes the guesswork.

Why does Vitamin D need Vitamin K2 to work properly?

This is one of the most important reasons DAKE is formulated as a stack rather than isolated ingredients. Vitamin D significantly increases calcium absorption from the gut, which is exactly what you want for bone density and cellular function. But calcium that gets absorbed still needs to be directed to the right places: bones and teeth, not arteries and soft tissue. That's where Vitamin K2 comes in. K2 activates proteins (most notably osteocalcin and Matrix Gla Protein (MGP)) that shuttle calcium into bone and actively clear it from arterial walls. Without adequate K2, the calcium Vitamin D helps absorb has no reliable routing mechanism. Running high-dose D without K2 is a common oversight in supplementation. DAKE includes both K1 and K2 as MK-4 specifically so this pathway is covered.

Does Vitamin D absorb better with food?

Yes. Vitamin D is fat-soluble, and like all fat-soluble nutrients, it absorbs most efficiently in the presence of dietary fat. DAKE includes Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) in the formulation as a built-in absorption vehicle for all the fat-soluble actives in the capsule, so you have meaningful absorption support regardless of meal timing. Taking it with a fat-containing meal remains ideal, but the MCT inclusion means you're not entirely dependent on what you happened to eat nearby.

I have been taking this supplement for over 3 years now. I used to be Vitamin D deficient and now I am not. I know it works because when some time ago the product was backordered during the reformulation I stopped taking it and within 2 weeks I got sick. It was literally 3 years id i did not catch a cold or anything until I stopped taking this! I don't believe is a coincidence I love what this does for me and my endocrinologist as well!

The 1st batch needed to be shipped cold, the next iteration was a larger pill, but didn’t need cold shipping, the latest version is a small pill that has a little fat added so it is more bio available. I take 2 pills a day and my levels continue to be right on point.

Very bioavailable

Working well so far

Just started taking the supplements and the Motivation 101 has definitely changed my health for the better, also the Minerals 101 I believe are contributing to my higher energy levels, but too soon to tell. I'd give it another 90 days, but I am feeling positive above the future with these supplements.

One pill, four vitamins so important
